Description
Polaris General 1000 Engine Rebuild (2016 Models)
The General 1000 is built to do a little bit of everything—work during the week and hit the trail on the weekend. When the engine starts to wear down, that balance disappears fast. Power drops, responsiveness fades, and reliability becomes a question mark.
A full rebuild brings everything back into alignment. Instead of replacing one part at a time, we go through the entire engine so every component works together the way it should.
What Gets Addressed
This isn’t a surface-level repair. The goal is to correct wear across the engine and restore proper clearances, sealing, and function.
- Complete teardown and inspection of all internal components
- Cylinder head rebuilt, cleaned, and set to proper specification
- Exhaust valve guides upgraded with manganese bronze material
- Valve sealing surfaces corrected and verified
- Camshaft components cleaned, inspected, and corrected as needed
- Crankshaft checked and verified within OEM tolerances
- New high-babbitt main and rod bearings installed
- Cylinders evaluated and reconditioned to restore proper finish
- New moly-coated pistons and rings installed
- Timing and oil system components inspected and serviced
- Engine cases inspected and machined where needed
- All gaskets and seals replaced
- Final assembly completed to factory torque specifications
Why the Extra Inspection Matters
One technician assembles the engine. Another checks it before it ships. That second inspection step helps eliminate small issues before they become problems later.
It’s a simple process, but it’s one of the reasons these engines stay consistent.
Warranty Coverage
A 1-year warranty comes standard. If you want extended protection, a 2-year no-fault option is available. If something fails during that period, we handle it.
Core Options
You can send in your engine or use the refundable $1500 core option. Once your core is inspected and approved, the deposit is returned.
If you need the rebuilt engine first, ask about exchange options and we’ll walk you through it.
Before You Put It Back to Work
Break-in plays a big role in how the engine performs long term. Taking the time to do it right helps everything seat properly.
Follow the break-in procedure here or review the FAQ page if you have questions.
